The Khans of the Steppe is releasing in Crusader Kings III in less than a week. This is the game's second Core Expansion and puts focus on the nomadic life. One of the new additions is the new Nomadic Government Type which is heavily inspired by the nomads of the Eurasian Steppe.
The Nomadic Government introduces a new playstyle that's centered around two key features. The first is Herd which is a new currency that's available exclusively for Nomads. It can be converted into Horde Riders and even upgraded into better Men-at-Arms. The second is Migration which allows nomadic rulers to move around the Great Steppe as they search for better pasture lands. Nomadic rulers have the option to negotiate with the locals or subjugate them by force.
Nomadic Capital Domicile
This is all about the collection of yurts nomads have during migration. These include eight new domicile buildings along with at least 80 new internal upgrades. There's also a Domicile Culture/Faith mechanic with unique Decisions and Character Interactions.
Getting Obedience
Meanwhile, Nomadic Subjects and Courtiers have what's known as Obedience towards their overlord. This is a measure of how likely they are to form factions, perform hostile plots, and respect their decision of heir during succession. Players can obtain Obedience in various ways. They can demand it from the Nomadic Subjects and Courtiers, negotiate it, or impress them through new Character Interactions and Activity Intents.
Other new features include a new Succession Type for nomads, the Great Steppe Situation, and new Schemes for Nomads, to name a few. Learn more about what the upcoming expansion brings to the game here.
