Open Beta for Mortal Shell II is Now Live

The Open Beta gives players access to the opening hours of the game.

The Open Beta for Mortal Shell II is now available. It gives players access to the game's opening hours. That means the Prologue up to the first explorable region.

Players start the journey by possessing fallen Shells. After that, they then head over into an early section of the open world. Along the way, they get to cleanse beacons, explore optional dungeons, and even take on the hidden mini-bosses and challenges.

Developer Cold Symmetry revealed that since this is an in-development build, players may encounter bugs or performance issues. There may even be rough edges here and there. However, the studio assures everyone that they are working to polish the game. That said, they hope that players who face issues can report it through the dedicated Discord channel.

Those able to join the Open Beta for Mortal Shell II get to unlock The Flayed Harbinger. This is an exclusive cosmetic reward that players can claim in the full game at launch. In addition, those who progress beyond the Marrow Keep can also unlock the option to skip the Prologue in the full game.

Finally, the studio shared that to ensure that the balance of the full release is preserved, any progress saved during the Open Beta won't be carried in the full game. That means currency, weapons, shells, collectibles, and other items discovered during the Open Beta reset at launch.

For the Open Beta, the minimum system requirements for the PC are:

  • OS: Windows 10 / 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K @ 3.8 GHz or better
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3.6 GHz or better
