Solo Developer Eddie H.Hinestroza announced that the open beta playtest for Skills & Raids is now on Steam. This party-based extraction RPG features real-time and ability driven combat.
As part of this announcement, a new trailer has also been released. Watch that trailer here.
In addition, a discord server is available for those who want to talk about the game as it also allows the developer to share game development insights. There’s also a newsletter that players can subscribe to here.
Real-time Combat
As mentioned, combat is real-time. Players need to focus on managing skill rotations, cooldowns, and resources while at the same time react to enemy mechanics. They'll need to pay close attention to status effects since they can heavily influence the outcome of each encounter. Then there is the pause mechanic which lets players take their time and read what each skill and status effect does.
Once defeated, enemies drop valuable resources that, once successfully extracted, can be used to craft powerful equipment, skills, and complete quests. Those lucky enough can encounter enemies which may even drop their own skills. Players can then combine it with their existing skills to create unique builds.
Skills & Raids feature a variety of quest types that include target objectives, resource collection, and using specific abilities, to name a few. By completing these quests, players can unlock new equipment and skills allowing them to increase their power.
Key features of the game are:
- Party-based RPG combat with real-time, ability-driven encounters.
- Manage character positioning in combat.
- Multiple combat areas with unique skill mechanics.
- Craft powerful equipment and skills.
- Rarity based gear, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary.
- Complete multiple quests.
- A dark handcrafted world.
PC Specs
For those interested to join the playtest, the minimum system requirements include an OS of at least Windows 10. Meanwhile, the PC should have a processor of Intel i3 4th generation or equivalent along with 1 GB RAM of memory.
