Professions & Abilities
Unlike other RPGs where players choose a fixed class, Relicfall has them forge their characters by choosing from three different professions. Each profession contributes to its own branch which leads to a combined passive skill tree. It allows for different paths and connections. It also build possibilities that depend on the chosen combination.
Meanwhile when it comes to abilities, Relicfall has it in the form of Active Relics. These can be customized with Support Relics that can fundamentally change how they behave. Players can add effects like additional projectiles, piercing, chaining, forking and novas. This means that the same ability can evolve in very different directions depending on the build surrounding it.
Overall, the system is designed around experimentation. The professions, passive choices, relic combinations and equipment, all interact to create increasingly specialized builds. During each run, players fight against escalating hordes of enemies while collecting experience, relics and randomized equipment. Loot follows ARPG-inspired rarity and affix systems, which adds adding another layer of character customization beyond the passive tree and relic system.
Relicfall also features persistent characters and long-term progression beyond individual runs. A portion of experience earned during runs contributes toward permanent character progression, allowing players to continue developing their characters and invest additional passive points between attempts.
Relicfall is currently in development for PC on Steam. The game has players combine three professions to shape a unique skill tree, hunt for powerful loot, and socket relics to create game-breaking synergies.
