Dead Drop Studios announced that Outbreak: Shades of Horror Chromatic Split is arriving to Steam Early Access on October 24. This should be good news to those who are excited about the game.

The early access version serves as a sneak peak of the full game. Players can access gameplay from the base of operations which is Cypress Reel. Cypress Reel was one the town's movie theatres and has since become a bustling headquarters for the scrappy Survivors.

At Cypress Reel, players can switch between available Survivors. They can also use it to get acclimated to the game’s controls and weapons. It is there that they can redeem and customize clothing and cosmetics along with being able to access the core modes the game has to offer.

Main Modes

During early access, players can access two of the main modes. The first is Raid Mode where players need to save civilians and try to make it to the extraction point. They'll have to defeat enemies to find important weapons, ammo, and items. They have to do it quickly since the more time they spend on the map, the stronger and deadlier the enemies become.

Meanwhile for Invasion Mode, players see the undead closing in on their position and have to defend the innocent denizens of Cypress Ridge. To fortify their defense, they'll need buildable traps, turrets, and stations, before hordes of zombies arrive and ruin the day. It's also important to make sure that the Furos generators are protected or they'll find themselves without the resources needed to stay alive.

Choosing a Survivor

During early access of Outbreak: Shades of Horror Chromatic Split, players can access survivors. When playing as any character in any mode, the progress levels up that character and also helps complete challenges. Players can earn XP, Ferret Tickets, new items and weapons, and other surprises as they play more and more.

While there are lots of free customizations for players to earn, players also have a chance to earn Ferret Tickets. They can then use these to shop at Ferret’s Emporium and buy shirts, glasses, hats, weapon skins, and even whole outfits. Ferret Tickets can also be redeemed at Cypress Reel’s many gacha machines to earn and freely use all of them to customize each of the Survivors as they see fit.

The Early Access version of Outbreak: Shades of Horror Chromatic Split was released on PC via Steam on October 24 and priced at $29.99.
