Larian Studios is currently working on Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate III and there's some interesting features to be introduced. One of these is Photo Mode, which should spice things up for every adventurer.
How it works is that as you go around the Sword Coast, you'll have the ability to toggle the Photo Mode on or off. In addition, you also get to play around with different options for the party that's with you. You can position them to your liking for example or maybe change the facial expressions so that they fit the scene. Now, while you won't be able to do much during dialogues and cinematic scenes, you'll have access to various post-processing effects like color-grading settings, frames, and stickers, to name a few. This should be enough for anyone to have fun.
Stress Test
The release of Patch 8 is still weeks away, you can have the chance to try the new features early. That's because the study is conducting a stress test for this upcoming patch at the end of January. While the Photo Mode is indeed an exciting addition to the game, the main goal of this stress test is to fully test cross-play. That's right! The days of separate platforms are almost over.
During the Patch 8 stress test, registered players on Xbox, PlayStation, PC players can test out cross-play by either creating a lobby or joining one. They can then invite friends through the Larian Network. The studio is hoping to see how this plays out and make any needed changes before Patch 8 comes out.
The studio shared that while cross-play is going to be available from launch, Mac players won’t be able to take part in the stress test this time.
