Playable Character for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Revealed

The lead protagonist for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been revealed by Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room. Known as Phyre, this Elder Kindred was embraced sometime during the early 17th Century and now has an influence in the power structures of modern day Seattle.

In the game, players get to choose one of the four clans for Phyre. After that they can then start to explore the dark vampiric-inspired underbelly of the city. Along the way they get to learn more about the world, courtesy of Fabien, the strange and ever-present voice that's in Phyre’s head.

The game features branching dialogue options where every conversation with the powerful elites shapes how the characters, as well as the environment, to Phyre, which then impacts how the story moves forward. The game also allows players to customize the protagonist, from gender, clan, outfits, behavior, and even the blood they feed on. All of these also have an impact on how Seattle reacts to the characters and the progression.

Talking about this reveal, Ian Thomas, who is the Narrative Director at The Chinese Room, shared in a statement that the core pillar of the storytelling was to come out with a character which can resonate with players while being able to shake up what it is they know about Seattle. He added that by leveraging a protagonist, they are able to add weight to the narrative choices and remaining to have room for the players to customize the background of the character.

Meanwhile, Sean Greaney over at Paradox Interactive said that the game is able to come to life with Phyre as they wake this Elder Vampire in a world's that's different from what they remember. He went on to say that with Seattle being able to adapt and change to what the players do, this results in a different story experience for each one.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a successor to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. The game puts players in the dark underbelly of Seattle, a place where vampires not only struggle for supremacy but also for survival. Players take on the role of an Elder vampire and meet compelling characters while maneuvering complex political relationships. In addition to stalking the city for prey, they also get to engage in combat, all while try to balance the thirst for blood.
