Independent developer Amazing Game announced that the Steam Playtest for Nova Era: Atom is now live. It's expected to run until October 11.
The Playtest gives players their first hands-on look at the mysterious String Realm. This high-dimensional universe is filled with strange galaxies, alien creatures, hidden outposts, and the remains of derelict megastructures. As part of the Playtest, they can explore star systems, gather resources, battle hostile factions, and push deeper into dangerous regions in search of valuable loot.
To join the Playtest, players need to head over to the Store Page of the game on Steam. They then have to download the demo to participate. Here’s what to expect for the Playtest:
- Explore, Engage, and Extract: Pilot the ship deep into Voidspace and get to explore distant star regions while at the same time scavenge for resources, engage in combat, and make their escape through warp extraction.
- Five-Component Loadouts and Hot-Swappable Chips: Customize primary weapons and defensive configurations. Swap chips on the fly to adapt the build during missions.
- Four Classes and Talent-Based Builds: Explore different class roles and talent combinations to create a build that suits the playstyle.
- Large-Scale World Exploration: Explore a vast world built on MMO architecture, gather resources, and complete contracts.
These features reflect the content available in this playtest. In a post, the studio shared that additional content is planned to be introduced as development progresses toward the full release.
System Requirements
To get the best experience during the playtest for Nova Era: Atom, the minimum specifications are:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G or better
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, with DirectX 12 support and at least 6 GB of VRAM
- Storage: The game must be installed on an SSD with at least 80 GB of available space
- Operating System: Windows 10, version 21H2 or later
Meanwhile, the recommended system requirements are:
- Processor: Intel Core i7-11700 or better for responsive gameplay and smooth performance
- Memory: 16 GB RAM or more to support demanding gameplay and multitasking
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 or better, with DirectX 12 support and at least 8 GB of VRAM, for smooth gameplay at higher visual settings
- Storage: The game must be installed on an SSD with at least 80 GB of available space. Installing the operating system on an SSD is also recommended to improve loading times and overall system responsiveness.
- Operating System: Windows 10, version 21H2 or later
