What do you get when you put vampire spies in Cold War Berlin? You get the upcoming tactical narrative RPG Red Kiss.
The game is being developed by Wispfire and published by Fellow Traveller. Wispfire is a small independent game studio that’s run by three designers with a background in interactive theatre. As a specialized team in storytelling, the studio offers engaging experiences with a message, using a vibrant hand-painted art style.
Accept the Kiss
In the game, players take on the role of a player whose life can be best described as one that sucks. One day, a seductive and enigmatic vampire offers them a new life, one that's filled with power and purpose. They accept what is known as "the sweetest kiss of all." However, they don't just become a vampire but also an Augur, the psychic dispatcher.
With these new powers, fate is now in the hands of the players. Their choices determine the destiny of the house.
The Vampire Dispatcher
As the Augur, the agents serve as an extension of the players. That means they feel what they feel as they prowl the tunnels of the U-Bahn and claim new stations to add to their psychic network. Players can see it as a mind-map of 80s Berlin that's sprinkled with "Opportunities" at each node that include clues to investigate, secrets to uncover, and people to meet, or even devour.
They get to confront the Wheel of Fate, a skill check system that's tied to six unique character skills. Players need to choose the right agent for each Opportunity, based on their skills and relationships.
How it works is that when the main vampire is preoccupied with more important and mysterious matters, the Augur is the one left to care for their agents’ resources. Players have to manage their energy, money, and blood supply. They'll need to do it while avoiding exposure to the outside world.
Red Kiss invites players to experience a dark and supernatural take on dispatching narrative RPGs that's set in the last days of the Cold War. Wishlist the game on Steam now.
