Resist an Alien Invasion as Xenonauts 2 is Now on Steam

Hooded Horse and Goldhawk Interactive announced that Xenonauts 2 has officially left early access. This 1.0 build is available on PC through Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.

The game invites players to wage a global war of resistance against an alien invasion. They get to experience command turn-based tactical battles as they build a network of covert bases and directly control fighter wings. The objective is to achieve strategic victory in a simulation of asymmetric warfare against a technologically superior foe.

Journey in Early Access

In a statement, the studio shared that Xenonauts 2 was first launched into early access back in July 2023. Since then, a bunch of revisions and updates have been released focusing mainly on seven major milestones. One of the changes made was the improvements made on the tutorial. Then there was the one on the early game with The Cleaners being more involved. This is a pro-alien militia determined to thwart player efforts to counter the invasion.

Other changes include:

• A completely reworked air-combat system.

• New alien enemies, from new ground troops, to bigger UFO types, and weapons, to name a few.

• A defined endgame where players can take their fight to the enemy and comes complete with closing cinematics.

• New strategic layer mechanics, including supporters, operations, and reworked invasion phases for better progression.

• New maps, biomes, and mission types, as well as revamps of original content from the initial early access launch.

• New 3D models, animations, and art.

• Modding via Steam Workshop integration.

• Countless balance passes.

Post-Release Plans

Through a post, the development team revealed just because the full version has been released doesn't mean they'll stop the development work on the game. After the launch, the team went on to say that they'll work to make sure that the game remains "completely stable." They'll also try to complete the different small improvements they weren't able to finish before the launch. The team reminded players that if they encounter a bud that affects the gameplay, they should report it so that they can then fix it.

Xenonauts 2 is available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store for a base price of $39.99. There is a 35% launch discount running until April 15.
