Marvelous USA announced that Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is launching in Spring 2025. It's going to be available for the Nintendo Switch as well as for PC via Steam. This upcoming title is set to be the latest entry in the Rune Factory series. For the first time in the series, it's going to introduces players to the lands of the east. Making things even more interesting is that the game features Japanese-inspired visuals along with new twists on familiar themes and gameplay elements.
The game is set in the eastern lands of Azuma. It has become a shadow of its prosperous past resulting from the effects of the Celestial Collapse and the cessation of power that were provided by the runes. Being weakened by the corruptive forces, the gods of nature made the decision to retreat from the world resulting in the mountains crumbling and fields withering. As the people of Azuma look for help, a hero enters into a contract with a dragon and sets out on a journey.
The game introduces players to a new adventure in a never-before-seen country of Azuma. Players get to take on the role of an Earth Dancer, one who’s destined to bring back hope and life to the once thriving land. They get to farm, restore, and even build whole villages. Of course, they also get to fight using new weapons. The game actually has players choose from one of two protagonists whose fates are in fact closely tied together.
The world of Azuma is vast and more than ready for players to explore. There are majestic villages to uncover with each one getting inspiration from Japanese culture. Each village also has a seasonal theme.
In addition to what’s already been mentioned, players can also develop relationships with the locals to recruit them to in the fight or assist in managing the villages. They can wield sacred treasures of the gods and make use of the Earth Dancer’s power of dance to purify the land and return Azuma to its former glory.
Overall, there’s an adventure of a new world that’s awaiting everyone. Wishlist Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma on Steam now.
