The next major content update for Patch of Exile 2 is coming out on May 29. Return of the Ancients sees the forgotten evils coming back to the game. It introduces six new endgame storylines for everyone to enjoy.
Origins of Divinity
The first storyline sees the Wraeclast laying in ruin after the devastating cataclysm. After that, an ancient fortress rises from the earth. Those who enter the fortress get to discover its secrets along with getting rewards. That's because the fortress contains a lot of new areas, new bosses, and even new map mechanics.
In addition, those who explore the fortress can also unlock at least 300 node Atlas Passive Tree, which have been completely redesigned with new and powerful abilities.
Masters of the Atlas
The second storyline features the Masters of the Atlas who are more than willing to share their skills to players, as long as they are willing to accept it. There are powerful artefacts to uncover with Jado, deadly monsters to hunt with Hilda, or cleanse the corruption with Doryani.
The Atlas Masters act as Ascendancy classes for the Atlas Tree and allow players to specialize further into what type of encounters they would like to face.
Raven and the Hare
The third storyline follows an ancient trickster god who has been unleashed and is now spreading madness across Wraeclast. In addition, the Strange Voice, who is also an entity of Delirium, is even growing stronger.
In this one, players need to break the grand mirrors, encounter new dangers, face horrific enemies, and enter new realms that's sure to test their sanity. Should players find the missing shard of his mirror, they may face the Trickster himself in his realm of madness. The thing is, the rewards are well worth overcoming those fears. Players can use distilled emotions to craft jewels and find devastating new unique items to prepare them for what lies ahead within the fog.
Waking the Dreamer
The fourth storyline has the Hiveborn, grotesque creatures from a strange realm, looking to escape their world and overrun another. While Ailith and the Keepers of the Flame have managed to hold them at bay, their numbers are now fading. As the Hiveborn continue to grow, it has forced Ailith to call on Exiles to take the fight to them.
The Rite of the Nameless
The fifth storyline has the spirit Aoife looking for a champion to aid her. The King in the Mists has stolen her body which results in her spirit being trapped in the Wildwood. She believes retrieving her body should free her. As players help Aoife, they'll discover a different threat entirely, a threat more ancient and lurking in the darkness below.
The Runes of Aldur
The sixth storyline introduces players to Farrow, a rune enthusiast from eastern Ezomyr. Each rune Farrow finds unlocks crafting options and further uncovers the connection between Ezomyte and Kalguuran runecraft. With the help of the Kingsmarch crew, discover ancient Kalguuran treasures, secrets, and horrors - some familiar, others strange and horrifying.
