The hack-and-slash roguelite game Smith & Dungeon: Crafting the Legendary Weapons is officially launching on May 16. It has players take on the role of a blacksmith as they explore dungeons, fight against monsters, gather materials, and of course, craft powerful weapons.
Smith & Dungeon: Crafting the Legendary Weapons is the fourth title in the 2D Pixel Art Series from developer Zoo Games. The previous three titles were the hack-and-slash roguelite action game Rogue Explorer in 2021, the roguelike dungeon-crawling shooter Mystic Gate in 2023, and the formation-based real-time battle RPG Akatsuki in 2024.
A Weapon Worthy of the Hero
The game tells the story of a Kingdom offering a grand reward for anyone who's able to craft a powerful weapon that's worthy of equipping the hero and their companions on their mission to defeat the Demon King. In addition, only those who made weapons approved by the king would receive the reward.
Upon hearing this, a young blacksmith who dreams of fame and fortune resolves to create the ultimate weapon. To make this happen, he plans to explore dangerous dungeons that are under the Demon King's control. It is in these dungeons that rare materials can be obtained to forge a weapon so powerful that it should prove its worth to the king.
Getting Rare Materials
The rare materials collected in the dungeons can be used to showcase the skills as a blacksmith. Weapons that can be crafted include the likes of swords, spears, and bows. Other items can also be made like armor, helmets, shields, and rings. Equipping these crafted gear can enhance the character and prepare for epic adventures.
By the way, equipping weapons and armor changes the look of the character. This allows for full customization with players being able to create their own hero for every adventure.
Dynamic Dungeons
One of the exciting features of the game is that everyone has the chance to experience the thrill of roguelite gameplay through dungeons that generate random layouts, monster spawns, and even treasure chest locations each time players enter. That means no two runs are the same.
