Epictellers Entertainment shared details on a sadistic villain named Velkan Droth in Starfinder: Afterlight. He's actually known across the Pact Worlds by a more sinister name and that is, the Minister of Flesh.
Velkan is an Azrinaran Elf who hails from Apostae. He serves as the key antagonist across the first two acts of the game. This charming and unpredictable villain works as a hired weapon for a powerful patron and lures players and their companions into his elaborate and sadistic games.
Velkan was actually broken by his traumatic past and driven by twisted religious beliefs. It resulted in him having one desire and that is to slaughter his targets in elaborate and artistic ways as he is guided by a voice only he can hear. However, it seems that he is fixated on Sterling, one of the players' companions. This fixation runs deeper than any other prey.
Voicing Velkan in the game is none other than Christopher Tester. He's known mainly for Total War: Warhammer III and Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2.
In a statement, studio CEO and co-founder Ricard Pillosu revealed that players get to meet Velkan as the story slowly unfolds. He describes him as Ted Bundy and Joker having a child.
Starfinder: Afterlight is set in a galaxy facing annihilation. With the captain gone and doomsday is just around the corner, it's now up to the players to assemble a crew of misfits from across the stars and become the legends. There are six unique companions to find who have been scattered across the stars. Each one brings with them not only personal stories but also moral dilemmas. The bonds players forge through triumph and loss determine their destinies, and ultimately whether the galaxy survives or not.
The game features a branching narrative where choices matter. Nothing is forbidden and everything has consequences. It's up to the players to choose between salvation or profit. The different factions remember the actions done while the companions judge the heart of the players.
Starfinder: Afterlight is coming to Early Access later this year. Those interested can now wishlist the game on Steam.
