Independent studio Springloaded announced the release date for Let’s Build a Dungeon. This true-to-life game dev sim meets RPG builder is launching into Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview for PC on February 11, 2027. A demo is available to play now on Steam and the Windows Store.
In a post, the studio revealed that they’ve been talking about the release date for quite sometime. As such, the announcement of an actual date serves as “a huge moment for our team.” Initially, they wanted to release the game in November 2026 but eventually settled for early 2027. The studio shared that they wanted to avoid the busy end of year Steam rush and also the release for GTA VI.
Four Modes
When Let’s Build a Dungeon officially goes live, it's going to give players access to four unique modes. The first one is Campaign Mode and offers in-depth and multi-layered game development simulation which combines studio management, RPG creation, and hands-on playtesting. The second is called Just Build Mode and has a more streamlined and low-pressure world-building experience powered by a relaxing deck-building system.
Third is the Creative Mode, basically an open sandbox that's packed with accessible game-making tools and full creative control. The fourth one is Dungeoneering Mode. This one has players explore curated experiences by Springloaded, other developers, and the Let’s Build a Dungeon community
Managing a Game Studio
The game has players manage a game studio and have them try to develop their own MMORPG up until the milestone of releasing the game into "GameLink Early Access," which is a parody of real world Early Access programs. According to the studio, the development team is going to release substantial updates throughout the game's Steam Early Access period on the road to 1.0 launch.
In a statement, Game Director James Barnard shared that by letting players mimic the real-life development cycle, they can learn what game development is all about. He added that they love blurring the lines between what is real-life and what is in-universe.
Let’s Build a Dungeon is available to wishlist now on Steam and is coming to PC and Xbox in partnership with Kowloon Nights.
