It's all systems go for the release of Act 1 of BLACKWOOD on September 16. To give players a head start, developer AttritoM7 Productions and publisher IZilla Games released a new gameplay trailer that shows some of the things players should know about the game.
While BLACKWOOD may initially appear to be a cinematic third-person action thriller, under its stylish gunplay and brutal combat lies a collection of systems that's been designed to reward players who pay attention, adapt to changing situations, and of course, make the most of everything around them.
In the game, players need to manage ammunition and switch weapons on the fly and all the way to using movement, environmental objects, and takedowns to gain the upper hand. It offers players a lot of options when things go wrong. Then when the bullets run out , players may need to think quickly and use whatever is available to survive.
The new trailer takes a closer look at some of these mechanics while at the same time offers a glimpse at the systems waiting between missions. Players are sure to discover ways to customize their arsenal, improve their shooting, manage Anton’s health, make use of his home, and even understand how the game’s delivery and progression systems work.

BLACKWOOD puts players in the role of Anton Blackwood, who initially seems to be an ordinary DVD store owner living in New York in 2012. By day, Anton runs his store and manages his life outside the criminal underworld. However when night comes, he becomes a ruthless contract killer who navigates dangerous missions where survival depends on his ability to adapt.
BLACKWOOD: Act 1 is the first part of a three-act story and is releasing on Steam this September 16. Players who purchase BLACKWOOD at launch get to receive the future Acts as free updates as they are released. Act 2 is currently planned for March 2027 and Act 3 is slated for September 2027. BLACKWOOD is a full game released progressively in three planned acts, not an Early Access title.
BLACKWOOD is a game that features cinematic storytelling and combines it with responsive gunplay, grounded melee combat, brutal takedowns, and a detailed recreation of 2012 New York.
