Developer Kraken Express has reached a new milestone with its PvE survival adventure Windrose. As of Monday, April 20, it has been reported that the title has sold 1 million units. What makes that even more impressive is that the number was reached within six days of launch.
If that isn't impressive enough, it appears that the game has also managed to reach more than 200,000 concurrent players. In a post, the studio shared that the support for Windrose has been "absolutely astonishing." In addition, they'd also like to thank the community for their patience as they continue to work on fixes.
Windrose is a survival adventure that's set in an alternative Age of Piracy. The game features the classic "build, craft, survive" formula and combines it with intense combat and engaging exploration on land and sea. Players progress across the vast procedurally generated biomes which are filled with hidden mysteries, hand-crafted dungeons and quests. They'll need to gather their crew and captain the ship through brutal naval combat with boarding actions and seamless transitions between ship and shore.
Challenging Blackbeard
They say that each legend begins with a reckless crossing. In the game, players take on the role of a captain who has the courage to challenge Blackbeard. What starts as a grounded story of survival and revenge leads into a growing conflict between empires, pirate clans, and mysterious dark powers looming on the horizon.
Naval combat is shaped by the decisions of the players. They can equip and customize the ship to suit their playstyle, from nimble ketch to versatile brig and monstrous frigate. Once the cannons go silent, they can then claim their spoils and share a sea shanty with the crew as they sail onward.
A Swashbuckling Adventure
It's not all naval battles as players can also hack, slash, batter, and shoot their way forward. They can master a wide range of melee weapons and firearms. It's important to keep an eye out for new gear that include the likes of sabers, rapiers, halberds, greatswords, pistols, and muskets, to name a few.
Players can shape their combat style through talents and flexible loadouts with unique armor sets. They can use food and potions to gain powerful buffs. Players can also test their skills against a wide range of enemies and challenging bosses, defeat them, and claim their treasures.
