Afrime Studios released a teaser on what players can expect for the main story hub of Unyverse. This Afrofuturistic action RPG offers fighting game mechanics and combines it with deep narrative progression, exploration, and character-driven worldbuilding.
In a statement, the studio shared that the game is currently in pre-production. It's being developed as a stylized and story-rich RPG that's built around high-impact combat and cultural imagination. In particular, it features a bold vision of the diaspora of African culture which are expressed through science fiction, fantasy, and interactive storytelling.
Going back to the main story hub, it has been designed so that it becomes the living narrative anchor for the player experience. It connects a lot of features in the game that include, among others, key story moments, character interactions, lore discovery, training, mission progression, and even customization. In addition, the plan is to make this hub become the foundation of the game's MVP and the eventual public-facing demo.
By utilizing a hybrid gameplay model, the game is able to have the immediacy and skill expression of fighting games but with the depth, progression, and worldbuilding of an RPG. That means players can expect fast, stylish encounters, character growth, and cinematic storytelling.
