Studio Reveals Paid Content Releasing in Borderlands 4

It was early this month when Borderlands 4 was released. However, that doesn't mean developer Gearbox Software has stopped working on the game. In fact, there's a lot currently in the works.

There is paid content coming out and it begins with two Story Packs coming out in 2026. Each Story Pack comes with multiple main missions and side missions set in a new zone of Kairos along with a brand-new Vault Hunter and new gear to earn. Players can also get their hands on new cosmetics that include:

• 2 Vault Hunter Heads usable by all Vault Hunters

• 2 Vault Hunter Heads for the new Vault Hunter

• 4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by all Vault Hunters

• 4 Weapon Skins

• 2 Vehicle Paintjobs

• 3 ECHO-4 Drone Skin & Attachments

• 1 ECHO-4 Frame

Story Pack

The first Story Pack is expected to be a bloody and cosmic horror-inspired tale that's about Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. It stars the Pandoran mechanic extraordinaire and daughter of Moxxi, Ellie. So far, no other information has been revealed but more details are to be revealed in the future. The first Story Pack is scheduled to come out in the first quarter of 2026.

Bounty Packs

Bounty Packs are also being planned. These come with bite-sized-yet-flavorful narrative content as well as new gear for players to earn and cosmetics to collect. It also has a Vault Card that lets players unlock additional loot through gameplay. Each Bounty Pack features new Main Missions that reveal more about the different NPCs of Kairos. There's also a new Boss for players to try and take down.

In a post, the studio revealed that the first Bounty Pack coming out focuses on Rush, who is the affable leader of the Outbounders faction stationed in the Fadefields. Players can expect loot in the form of a new Legendary Gear drop, a Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, an ECHO-4 Drone Skin, and a new Digirunner Vehicle. There's also a Vault Card, with its unique set of 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of re-rollable gear. All non-cosmetic Vault Card gear can be earned repeatedly until players roll one with stats that perfectly suit their build.

Borderlands 4 is a mayhem-fueled looter shooter, jam-packed with billions of weapons, deadly enemies, and intense co-op action. Borderlands 4 was launched for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to be released on October 3.
