Developer Seismic Squirrel revealed the roadmap forAether & Iron. So far, there are three major releases this year.
The first is the New Roadside Garage, which was released back in May of this year. In addition to new content and features, it also brought with it quality-of-life improvements and fixes. Read more about it here.
What's left are the new content which is scheduled to come out in the third quarter of 2026. The first are the new story missions and mini-quests that should expand not only the world but even the crew's journey. After that it's the new dice mini-game that's inspired by those 1930s gambling games.
In a post, the studio shared that they're excited about the upcoming updates and are sharing "more details soon."
Aether & Iron is a narrative-driven RPG that takes place in an alternate 1930s New York. The city has been turned into a vertical city after "aether" was discovered. This resource serves as a key component for anti-gravitational technology. The game has players customize and upgrade their fleet of aether-powered vehicles with weapons and armor while at the same time recruit unique companions to watch their back. The choices shape not just the path, but also the fate of the city.
In the game, players get to recruit unique and resourceful companions to watch their back, and follow their stories. They also have to assemble a wide range of aether-powered vehicles. Players also have to unlock new tactical options that they can then try out on strategic and turn-based vehicular battles. To improve chances in combat and social situations, they’ll have to level up the Hustle, Smarts, and Brass. They can also upgrade aether-powered rides to suit their playstyle and even enhance cars with every trick in the smuggler’s toolkit.
Aether & Iron is also a game where choices matter. The decisions made by the players shape the unfolding history of New York and the lives of its citizens. Players are the ones who determine whether they can find hope in a corrupt world of manipulation and violence.
