Developer Jagex revealed that they're working on a new feature for RuneScape: Dragonwilds. For now, it's being dubbed as "Raid" and expected to come out after the Scorned Wilderness update.
A while back, RPG Gamers reported the roadmap for the game released by the studio. It showed that the fourth update is titled "Scorned Wilderness" and set to add a new region along with introducing the Runite Tier. This same update has players face off against none other than the God-Eater herself.
While Scorned Wilderness does serve as a culmination of everything the development team learned with RuneScape: Dragonwilds, it's merely the start of the journey. In a post, the team shared that they're excited to "share more" on what's arriving in the game and one of these is the "raid."
For those who are new to the RuneScape franchise, a Raid is basically a high-end challenge against a player or groups of players. That means players are subjected to a gauntlet, dive into a dungeon, or even raid a tomb. They can also charge into an Anima storm in an attempt to bring down a God-Eater. For the raid in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, it's the last one mentioned. In particular, it comes with unique mechanics or combat challenges that's sure to test the mettle or survival skills of the players. Those able to rise to the challenge get the right to challenge the boss.
For the first Raid to be introduced in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, it puts players in a landscape that's been ripped apart by wild anima and has them fight against the fury of the Black Dragons. They'll also need to travel across floating islands where they fight through attacks by the God-Eater herself to reach her. While each of her tyrannical and terrible heads channels the fury of Gielinor's dragons, she is more than the sum of her parts. Players who have slain countless Dragons on the Gielinor mainland are sure to recognize some of her attacks.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is set in the forgotten continent of Ashenfall and a time where dragons have awoken. To survive against the threat of the Dragons, players need to level up and arm themselves before facing these threats. They'll have to follow the trail of destruction and uncover the mysteries of the continent in order to learn not only how to confront the dragons but more importantly how to overcome them. For the PC, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is available on Steam Early Access.
