Take on a Retro Experience with the UNDERGROUNDED Demo on Steam

A demo of UNDERGROUNDED is now available on Steam. This puzzle adventure game takes players to the nostalgic landscapes of America's past.

The game has players go down deeper and deeper into an isometric dungeon map. The map itself is pretty much a slice of American history and filled with people who have lost something. Each floor is thematically different, from an 80s movie theater to a space station to a speakeasy from the roaring twenties. Players need to clear the puzzles, solve mysteries, and face boss-level monsters.

The Story

UNDERGROUNDED tells the story of a young man from Manhattan named Scott. One he decides to pop the question to his girlfriend who promptly then says "no." This results in Scott feeling dejected and accidentally drops the ring into a storm drain. It keeps falling deeper and deeper underground eventually falling down into the sewers. However, it goes further down and into something truly strange.

The weird dungeon is actually a collection of the culture and memories of decades past. There's the golden age of cinema, the space race, and even the Old West, to name a few. For those who want to experience America's past, this game offers them a full-course dinner.

Now it's possible that America's history may be too much for one shy Manhattan boy to tackle on his own. The good news is that he has a great ally on his quest which is the talkative and cheerful canary. What this means is that if a puzzle stumps them, players should listen to their bird friend as he might just give that much needed hint.

Getting Back What's Lost

The thing is, Scott isn't the only one who found his way into the underground dungeon. There's actually a lot of different people who have lost something and are there to find it too. Players can choose to help them and there may be a possibility that they'll also help Scott's life, and maybe for the better.

By the way, there are terrifying and powerful bosses waiting in the dungeon. The good news is that Scott has a mysterious power. If he finds a retro game cabinet and plays it, strange things start to happen in the world around him. Be sure to play those nostalgic homages to '80s arcade masterpieces to find what happens.
