The Battle for Control of Arrakis begins in Dune: Awakening. This challenge has Twitch streamers rally beneath the banners of House Atreides and House Harkonnen in a week-long event in support of charity. The event runs from September 22 to September 29.
Participating streamers get to choose a side between the honorable House Atreides or the ruthless House Harkonnen. Then throughout the campaign these same creators play Dune: Awakening and complete in-game challenges to earn XP for their chosen House. That XP contributes to House Influence which advances Atreides and Harkonnen toward community milestones.
As the total House Influence rises, the event then reaches multiple milestones unlocking giveaways for streamers. Viewers meanwhile can get the Raiders of the Broken Land DLC or a range of new and returning in-game cosmetic items that include:
- Atreides Battle Rifle Skin
- Maula Pistol Richese Skin
- Atreides Warship Carving Wall Decoration
- A Memory of Pain Mural
What makes the event fun is that the battle won't be fought by streamers alone. At select moments during participating livestreams, viewers can interact with the event system and help their favorite creators earn additional XP. They can use chat commands at key moments to support their chosen House and help push Atreides or Harkonnen toward the next Influence milestone. Each completed milestone brings the community closer to new rewards and to unlocking charitable donations.
