Fallout 76 heads to arid country in Burning Springs through a major free update that releases December 2. It features what may be the largest map expansion in the game as Burning Springs opens the path for players to experience post-nuclear Ohio. As they explore the perilous gulches of the area, they encounter new characters and quests.
The Buckeye State
The upcoming expansion expands the boundaries of the already massive Appalachia region. Players explore the charred remains of Ohio, which has been conflagrated during the Great War into a place now called Burning Springs.
In a post, Creative Director Jonathan Rush shared that Burning Springs wasn't really explored in the previous games. He revealed that this was "all new territory" for them. As they discover more about Burning Springs, they also learn about the history of the area and how it fits into the greater post-nuclear world.
In addition to the scorching temperatures and barren wastes, Burning Springs also has a lot of threats that are both familiar to fans of the franchise and some entirely new. These include the vicious local breed of Deathclaw or the Rust King, a Super Mutant warlord ruling the area with an iron fist.
Something for Everyone
What makes the upcoming exciting is that there's something for everyone. It doesn't matter whether you're seasoned dweller, new to Fallout 76, or even new to the franchise itself. Rush revealed that when the first Season of the Fallout television series was released, Appalachia saw a lot of newcomers to the region. He added that this would be a good time to go on an adventure with friends in the wasteland.
The Burning Springs update arrives December 2 as a free game update available to all Fallout 76 players.
