The Chinese Room to Work on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

It looks like Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is finally getting the break it needs. Publisher Paradox Interactive confirmed that The Chinese Room is now working on developing the game. A gameplay revealed is scheduled in January 2024 with a possible launch in Fall 2024.

The game was first being worked on by the development team over at Hardsuit Labs. It initially set to be released in March 2020 but later moved to an unspecified date in 2020. Various factors that included the pandemic and staff changes resulted in the release being pushed back to sometime in 2021.

The new studio, which is The Chinese Room, has long been known to create ground-breaking first-person titles which have won awards like BAFTA and TIGA, to name a few. Titles include, among others, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and Little Orpheus. Given this background, there’s no question that the studio is truly well-equipped to tell a Vampire story that’s set in the modern-day Seattle.

Talking about the announcement, The Chinese Room Studio Director Ed Daly said that this game is set to be the studio’s most ambitious project so far. He added that they’ll be bringing more than 15 years of award-winning experience to create a game which not only honors the legacy of the previous titles but also bring gameplay to the next level.

Meanwhile, World of Darkness Vice President Sean Greaney revealed that they were impressed with the proposal that The Chinese Room had for the game. He said that the studio is an ideal partner given their passion for the source material. Greaney assured fans of the franchise that the game is in good hands.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a successor to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. The game puts players in the dark underbelly of Seattle, a place where vampires not only struggle for supremacy but also for survival. Players take on the role of an Elder vampire and meet compelling characters while maneuvering complex political relationships. In addition to stalking the city for prey, they also get to engage in combat, all while try to balance the thirst for blood.
