The Curse of the Allflame has officially arrived in Path of Exile. This expansion brings with it a new challenge league and even sees the return of the Mercenaries of Trarthus.
The new challenge league in particular sees players meeting none other than Valerie. This dangerous corsair captain is asking for help in retrieving long forgotten treasures that have been lost in the icy depths of Wraeclast's oceans. To begin the journey, players need to find the various Charts that's been scattered across Wraeclast. After that they then need to board The Sovereign and set sail.
Once they reach the required areas, players have to dive to the ocean floors. The good news is that the lanterns they carry have been imbued with the spark of the Allflame which shields them from the crushing waves. They can claim whatever they find while exploring. That means lost gold and valuable chests, among others. However, care is needed because as the lanterns flicker and fade, players need to rush back to the safety of the Bathysphere and escape the clawing creatures that despise the light they bring.
Chart the Voyage
Those able to chart enough areas can later connect them together to come up with what's known as a Voyage. Players can revisit each chart to claim the rewards again. At the same time, the rewards can be amplified in various ways. Any area that is "charted" reveals a modifier that can then be applied during a Voyage. The edges of these Voyage Boards also feature randomized effects that influence adjacent Charts each Voyage and add extra rewards.
The Mercenaries Return
As mentioned, the Mercenaries of Trarthus are back and again roaming Wraeclast looking for challengers. Those able to defeat one in a duel not only can claim a powerful item they're carrying but even recruit them as an ally for the rest of the area.
