The Echoes of Mystralia Arrives in Steam Early Access on August 11

Prepare for a new experience in the Mystralia universe.

Borealys Games announced that Echoes of Mystralia is releasing in Steam early Access this August 11. This spell-crafting roguelite has players take on the role of a Watcher who has been charged with protecting not only the Cycle of Memories but that of Mystralia itself.

At the Early Access release, the studio revealed in a statement that Echoes of Mystralia is set to offer a high-stakes and action-heavy roguelite experience. It's a game that features tactical and lightning-fast combat that rewards split-second decisions and intelligent movement. In addition, there's also going to be an intuitive and spell-crafting system where players can craft near-infinite combinations of spells. It's also a game where the positioning of components dictates the output of the spell. Ultimately it offers players total creative control over how they iterate and release those unique attacks.

The studio also shared that during early access, players can get access to 110 Memories to build spells along with three regions to explore and three Guardians to vanquish. There's also going to be 12 spell forms that they can use to begin the adventure.

The World of Mystralia

The game is set in the same universe as Mages of Mystralia, released in 2017. Players get to explore the lands while at the same time meet the lost souls and ultimately face the Shadows of the Past. One way to describe the mechanics of the game is that if players can imagine it, then they can craft it. That means thunderbursts, fire vortices, and freeing tornadoes, to name a few. Memories are the only weapon that can stand against the Shadows of the Past. Players can combine them, reorder them, and then watch that spell take shape.

Unique Systems

The rather deceptively deep spell-crafting system is what serves as the heart of Echoes of Mystralia. Players can use these "Memories" to find along the way to craft spells that's been created from elements like fire, ice, and lightning, among many others. Meanwhile, the intuitive crafting system is where the output is dictated by how the spell is positioned. That means millions of possible combinations.

A New Adventure

The adventure in Echoes of Mystralia centers around the Azimuth temple. This same temple serves as a hub between the adventure of the players across Mystralia. It lets them unlock new skills and even adjust the approach to combat. In addition, it also has players seek the wisdom of a millennia-old goddess. Outside the temple though is a different story. That's because there are those primordial Guardians that players need to overcome. However, there are also the powerful and as-of-yet unseen memories that they can experiment with. Players can also look forward to the occasional friendly face that's been scarred by the trials Mystralia has faced.
