Hooded Horse and Sad Socket announced that the feature most players have requested is finally here. The Multiplayer Mode is now live in 9 Kings. This competitive mode sees players fight against friends or even complete strangers.
Multiplayer Mode introduces a massive new way to experience the game with players going head to head on async battles. It still has what the core game features but with players being challenged like never before. Since there is now the possibility of facing endless new challenges, players need to reinvent their strategies if they are to survive.
Async PVP
The new game mode has players from around the world fight to determine whose kingdom lasts longer. The PVP dynamic allows for a fresh and totally new way to play 9 Kings.
For the async experience in particular, the studio shared this allowed them to make sure that the core spirit of the game remains intact. That means players can take on the fights at their own pace while at the same time change the challenges completely. To make it fair for everyone, players are matched those in the same level. Even then, the game mode is sure to test the skills of players like never before.
In Multiplayer, players can experience a different kind of battle. The base card now has HP and they start with 5 cards. In addition, Diplomacy is made when a king dies and players won't lose lives in the first 3 years.

Ready for multiplayer mayhem?
9 Kings was released in Early Access back in May 2025. Features available during this phase include players being able to access seven out of nine playable kings.
