Great news for Darkest Dungeon players! A new DLC has been released for the game and is now available. Dubbed as "The Fire's Edge," it is the first DLC to come out since 2020.
The DLC comes with two heroes who are The Runaway and The Duelist. These two previously made their debut back in Darkest Dungeon II. In a post, the development team over at Red Hook Studios revealed that they've always wanted to backport these two heroes. With the game celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the team shared that it felt like the perfect time to do it.
Each of these new heroes bring with them their own unique style of gameplay. The Duelist for example can dance between ranks, while at the same time freely maintain Riposte as she switches between two combat stances. Meanwhile, The Runaway makes use of Burn, a combat mechanic unique to her class. By the way, The Runaway and The Duelist each expand the roster by 1 slot.
Other New Content
The Fire’s Edge DLC also adds a number of Trinkets with all new mechanics. These include Trinkets that come charged with powerful limited effects, or ones that transform through use as players complete their expeditions.
Rounding out this update are some new town events, and three new Districts for the Hamlet which are the Academie Duello, Craftworks, and Archaeological Base Camp. Each one offers new bounties such as weekly Heirlooms and Trinkets, as well as damage boosts to heroes.
Modding
The development also revealed that when they worked on this new DLC, they wanted it to not interfere with existing mods. Because of this, the changes introduced are all additive and doesn’t affect existing heroes or enemies.
