A new update is dropping to Star Wars: The Old Republic this December. Among the new content coming is a new storyline.
Galactic Threads starts immediately after the events of the Desperate Defiance storyline. Players and their Alliance are on a quest to find Darth Malgus and stop whatever plans he has set in motion. At the same time, they'll also have to look for answers surrounding Darth Nul’s holocron and the Hidden Chain’s ambitions. For this story update, players can look forward to once again seeing Jekiah and Rass Ordo, Arn Peralun, Major Anri, Talos Drellik, Akaavi Spar, and Lana Beniko. As they go on the Story Missions, players are going to Hoth, Tatooine, and the digsite at Nul’s temple of Elom.
Now exciting as this all sounds, the development team revealed in a post a caveat to set player expectations. While the story chapter for "Galactic Threads" is well into productions, the Narrative team still doesn't have all the components needed to offer a high-quality story content that measures up to its standards and player expectations. As such, the final release of Game Update 7.6 is dependent on the completion of this content.
Dynamic Encounters
Another interesting new content to be introduced in the upcoming update is Dynamic Encounters. This new feature offers different missions for players to experience. It basically gives players a sense that something’s always happening at any given time. That means as they explore planets, they’ll naturally come across Dynamic Encounters or they can find active Encounters on their map. Missions can range from taking out Hidden Chain forces to herding escaped Banthas running amok in a space port. These Encounters are set to debut on Hoth and Tattoine.
Hidden Chain Invasions in particular are special Dynamic Encounters where players are asked to stop Heta Kol’s forces as they continue to wreak havoc in the galaxy. These Encounters can take place on Hoth and Tattooine though they can also be found on several other planets.
Dynamic Encounters also come with different associated with them. Completing Encounters have players yield tech fragments and Conquest Commendations while also unlocking Achievements. Hidden Chain Invasion Encounters meanwhile drop armor pieces. There’s also a special rare Encounter that drops the Freckled Loth-cat mini pet.
