A new game that's set in ancient China in now available on Steam. The Hungry Lamb: Traveling in the Late Ming Dynasty features a visual novel that's inspired by traditional Chinese art with modern animation. The game is priced at $9.99 but is being offered at a 20% discount for a limited period.
In a post, the studio revealed in a post that they've worked on this game for a year and do what they can to offer the best when it comes to "storytelling, art, sound effect, and cutscene." The game offers a story focused courage and redemption on the darkest theme. The game has more than 270,000 words which should take players about 8-10 hours to finish.
The game focuses on Liang the bandit and his companion Tongue. They've been commissioned for a job by an unsavory merchant where they have to escort four girls to a wealthy lord in the city of Luoyang. To do this, they'll have to pass through Huazhou, Wenxiang, and Shanzhou.
At first, Liang thinks that the girls he's escorting is going to be sold to a wealthy lord and adopted and his daughters to start a new life. However, one of the girls named "Sui" reveals the truth to Liang. It turns out that the so-called wealthy lord is actually a swine demon who has been devouring young ladies for more than a thousand years. Sui goes on to say that each year on his birthday, the lord has human traffickers abduct girls from Shaanxi. One of those girls has been Sui's sister.
Sui hopes to convince Liang to end the escort and instead join her in assassinating the swine demon. This is to avenge not only her sister but also all those who have perished in recent years.
While Liang wants to believe what Sui is saying, her story seems to have too many inconsistencies. As they go through this journey, Liang has to gather information and learn more about the truth. Only then can he make the decisions whether to help or not.
