The Latest Update for Abiotic Factor Introduces New Chemistry System

The latest update is now live in Abiotic Factor and it's the most scientific one yet. Among the many new additions, is a new chemistry system that players can enjoy.

Chemistry System

The Chemistry system is a feature that rewards experimentation and inquiry. Scientists who reach Cascade Labs can now build two new crafting benches and use them to engage in Chemistry.

The first is the Distillation Bench which lets players process a wide range of the anomalous materials that have been obtained during their various expeditions. The Distillation Bench can turn these materials into one of 15 new intriguing Distillations though in some cases it can be a vial of useless slop.

With some Distillations in tow, players can build the Chemistry Bench and use it to combine those Distillations into potent new concoctions.

New Concoctions

Through the Chemistry Bench, players can concoct 12 new Throwable Flasks. These can then be thrown at enemies and even friends. Then there are the 10 new Tinctures which produce potent, albeit temporary, effects when a scientist drinks them.

Finally, there are the 10 new Weapon Coatings. Players can apply these Coatings to most melee and ranged weapons to give them powerful new abilities for a little while. These include dealing additional damage or handy utility effects.

Chemistry Cosmetics

There’s also going to be new cosmetics available to players. Some of these are unlocked by default while some may need a little bit of investigation. The only exception would be the labcoat.

Craftable Wristwatches

Another interesting change is that the dress code restrictions on GATE-issued digital Wristwatches appears to have been lifted. This means players can now craft and equip Upgraded Wristwatches with handy new effects.

One of these is the Stealth Watch, which can render the scientist invisible so long as its primary battery holds out. The thing is, the more the scientist moves, the faster the battery drains. Meanwhile, the Decoy Watch projects a jaunty hologram of the players that attracts the attention of nearby hostiles and even entertains colleagues.

Another one is the Hauling Watch. What it does is increase the maximum carrying weight, which is perfect when dragging a new base setup to those hard-to-reach remote locations.
