For those excited about the upcoming title Songs of Rats, there's good news! Developer Tesseract Games has finally given us a release date. This minimalist and dark RPG is coming out on March 10, 2025, and to be available for the PC.

In a post, the studio revealed that their goal for the game is to immerse players in a world that feels isolated but alive. It's also one that's full of surprises and moral dilemmas. The game is inspired by choose-your-own-adventure books and means that each decision made truly shapes the journey.

An Ever-changing Labyrinth

Songs of Rats takes players to a place known as the Wreckage. It's an ever-shifting maze where no two adventures are the same.

The Wreckage is actually a colossal cluster of destroyed ships and space stations suspended in the void. These shattered vessels have collided and now fused into a massive and tangled structure. As a result of the advanced self-repair technologies, a lot of these wrecks have their interiors sealed. This makes large portions of the weird world habitable despite the danger.

Within this labyrinth composed of corridors, rooms, halls, and hangars, players can find fragments of diverse civilizations and cultures. These remnants range from wild hydroponics gardens and all the way to abandoned laboratories, armories, and factories. They may even get to derelict entertainment centers. It's clear that the variety reflects the diverse origins of the ships and stations that now form the Wreckage.

The Story

The origins of the Wreckage remain shrouded in mystery and its creation has become the stuff of legends. There are multiple and conflicting myths but a lot of them share a common thread. The story goes that hundreds of years in the past, there was a monumental space battle that happened in the orbit of a forgotten gas giant. They say that this was the climactic final act of the galaxy’s greatest conflict, which is the so-called "Final War". While the identities of the warring factions and the causes of the war have been lost to time, the sheer scale of the battle remains undisputed.
