The Narrative Meta RPG HYPERxFANTASY is Now on Steam

ONYXPRISM announced that HYPERxFANTASY is now available for the PC via Steam. It invites players to a dreamlike dystopia that's been built by a creator imprisoned inside his own creation. This surreal meta-RPG features fourth-wall breaks and genre-bending moments. The game is available for $19.99 and currently being offered at 10% off for a limited period.

The game puts players in the role of someone being recruited by a cult with the promise of "Ascension." However, they instead uncover a conspiracy and that is, an overpowered overlord has hijacked the game from its creator and is now twisting it to her will.

The game’s narrative explores a central absurdity. It’s about machines who care more about preserving love, culture, and memory compared to the human creators, who are focused mainly on digitizing their souls. Combat in the game has weight. The directional and timing-based sword system is one where each swing counts. It’s tense and deliberate, not button-mashy.

Influences

HYPERxFANTASY is inspired by the philosophical themes of NieR:Automata combined with the narrator chaos of The Stanley Parable. It's an RPG which constantly rewrites its rules. Players can expect to shift between 3D exploration with a fast-paced glider, abstract rhythm journeys, and intimate point-and-click moments. All of these have been woven into a story with non-linear quests and meaningful choices.

Demo Available

For those not sure if the game is for them, they can check out the demo that's available for free. It's actually been improved compared to the initial one that was released. For example, the voice-overs have been improved with the visuals made crisper and cleaner. The gameplay is now more polished, which includes combat and even the rhythm minigames. Meanwhile, the story structure has been made a little more compact and impactful. It gives everyone a sneak peek at how the full game looks in the first 30 minutes.
