Developer Neon Giant announced that a major update for The Ascent is releasing this November 2026. It's going to be available on various platforms that include PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
The upcoming update is designed to make the experience in the game not only smoother but also more dependable for both solo and co-op players. Some of the features being worked on include co-op teleportation, the encounter system, save-game reliability and data safeguards, player-progression reliability and safeguards, HDR support, and key localization improvements across all supported languages. The studio shared that final details of the update are to be shared closer to release.
The studio added that the update to be released this November reflects its ongoing commitment of continuing to improve the experience that players have while at the same time give the game room to grow.
In a statement, studio co-founder Arcade Berg revealed that they're proud of what they've built and more than thankful to all those who made the journey. He added that they listened to the feedback received from the players especially on how to make the experience stronger.
The Ascent tells the story of a corporate-owned indentured worker who uncovers the hidden truth behind the sudden collapse of the mega corporation known as 'The Ascent Group'. This same collapse has thrown the city into chaos. Players get to explore a vast cityscape as they take on story-driven missions from a colorful cast of characters. They get to fight enemies, collect loot, and customize their builds. The entire experience can be enjoyed solo or in co-op with up to four players.
The Ascent is being developed by Neon Giant with direct publishing responsibilities being assumed by KRAFTON starting March 2026. KRAFTON has been supporting the studio not only for the upcoming November update but also the long-term direction of the franchise. At the start, the team that worked on the game was composed of 12 developers.
Since its launch for the PC and Xbox back in July 2021, it has been the most-played PC game on Xbox Game Pass. In addition, The Ascent managed to be nominated at the D.I.C.E. Awards and Golden Joystick Awards before being released on the PlayStation by March 2022. The world of the game world expanded further with the release of the Cyber Heist DLC in August 2022.
