A new update is coming to Barony that's sure to change how the game is played. The upcoming Instruments of Destruction expansion is free and adds new weapons and armors.
New Armor
Once the update drops, players should feel that each run is not only more unique but also more memorable. One of these Light Armors, which is a good option for those who want their overall carry-weight reduced while making sure that their speed remains high. The new lighter armors are particularly good for classes that have low STR.
There's always the choice to go for the Heavy Armors, which Salamanders seem to have crafted. The silver set for example is for stalwart defenders who want to become an immovable object. Meanwhile, the blackiron set was made for a conquering army. Though the heavy armor may not offer protection like a crystal armor, the passive benefits are probably worth it for many stronger fighters.
Still on the idea of protection, there are also new shields which reward expertly timed blocking. There are different types that come with various benefits. The bone shield for example knocks foes back. Then there's the silver shield that punishes foes with that divine gleam. The blackiron shield meanwhile can lower the defense of enemies. These shields may not have high AC compared to others, but they can help put an end to fights sooner.
New Weapons
It's now all defense as there is also offense. There are new melee weapons coming soon that could motivate players to keep different material types of weapon around for different reasons. Players can get a bit more value out of the preferred weapon type of their when facing a foe who might otherwise be resilient against its strikes.
There are also ranged weapons that are a good choice for adventurers who prefer to fight away from the front lines. In particular, there are two new missile weapons and even special ammo types. These should introduce players to more tactical variety. Bones for example are more abundant and function more as a throwing weapon that's disposable. Plumbata and darts on the other hand have specialized debuffs that's sure to change the outcome of a fight.
