A new update drops today in The First Descendant. One of the highlights is the addition of a new game mode known as "Onslaught Mode Beta."
Onslaught Mode Beta is a defense mission where players need to stop the Vulgus from reaching the target point. The mission is considered a fail if more than a set number of monsters reach the objective. Players can earn currency when they defeat enemies, which can then be used to build or upgrade turrets. In addition, at the end of certain waves, players obtain random ability options which reinforce the player.
The mission takes place across three zones and each one features different strategic elements. It then culminates in a battle against a "Colossus". Onslaught Mode Beta is available for players until April 29. It's planned to be officially added to the game through an new update coming out on May 21.
In a statement, Nexon shared that they'll be having a two-week Onslaught Mode Beta Survey Event starting April 16 until April 28. This is for those who tried out Onslaught Mode Beta. Players who complete the survey receive rewards such as Crystallization Catalysts.
New Modules Added
Players should be happy to know that the update adds two new Trigger Modules. The first is "Firearm Cooling," which is a Trigger Module specialized for Viessa, for when a Global DoT or Projectile type skill inflicts the Frostbite status effect, lowering the cooldown of Firing Enhancement type skills.
The second Trigger Module is "Gash." It's specialized for Nell, for when an enemy being hit by a Global DoT type skill is attacked with a Tow or Piercing Projectile type skill, there is a certain chance to inflict the target with the Gash effect. Gash is a damage-over-time effect with a short duration and short damage intervals.
