The red moon has risen over the Dark Zone and to make things worse, it appears that the Black Tusk have taken control. It's time to face the challenge as the Red Moon Rising Event has officially arrived in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. It runs September 24 and all the way to November 3.
During Red Moon Rising, Agents who enter the PvE Dark Zone get to face Black Tusk forces while at the same time deal with strange alterations to their SHD tech. The longer they remain inside, the more Red Moon Stacks they accumulate. Players get to experience a mix of powerful buffs and dangerous drawbacks as their stack count rises.
The buildup lasts only as long as the run. Death, leaving the PvE Dark Zone, or securing contaminated loot wipes the stacks clean. The good news is that safehouses give players a chance to pause the accumulation until they step back into the Red Moon.
Those willing to take on the Red Moon's more dangerous encounters can earn rewards from dedicated loot pools, including Exotics, DZ Named items, curated Named items, and Prototype gear. One of the two new Exotics that can be earned as a reward is the Vertigo (Exotic GR9). However it works is that whenever the weapon makes an enemy Suppressed, the enemy is applied Disorient, and then players and their allies obtain +30% Damage to Targets Out of Cover for 15s.
The second is the Sarru (Exotic Backpack). While in combat, the Moon cycles through its phases every 5s for a total of 8 Moon phases. Then starting from a New Moon, all damage players deal are Amplified by 5%. The value of the Amplifier then increases by 5% each phase until reaching 25% during a Full Moon. After that it decreases as the Moon return to being a New Moon, restarting the cycle. In addition, during a Full Moon, deploying a Decoy grants it Overcharge and the cycle will pause for 10s.
