The Spider-Slayer Joins the Marvel Contest of Champions Roster Next Week

We finally have the date on when the Spider-Slayer is joining Marvel Contest of Champions. He arrives to the game on January 15.

For those not familiar, the Spider-Slayer is actually editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson in a mech suit. He was first teased with the release of the 11th Year Anniversary trailer.

One of the interesting abilities he has is being immune to Bleed and Poison. Making it even better is that this is always active. Another interesting ability is Austere. How it works is that Austere Buffs can;t be removed or prevented by Nullify or Stagger. Check out what the Spider-Slayer brings to the fight with the deep dive video here.

The Mystic Arts

A new Champion is also preparing to join the Contest this month. The new and improved Master of the Mystical Arts Doctor Strange (Rework) arrives January 29. Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange remains dedicated to defending the Earth against the darkest mystical adversaries.

As a Master of the Mystic Arts, he has 0% Combat Power Rate. However, he generates 3.5% of his Max Power per second. Learn more about Earth's Sorcerer Supreme here.

Tooth and Claw Saga

The Tooth and Claw Saga is now live in Marvel Contest of Champions. This hunt features furry, fanged, and fantastic adventures. It's sure to stir up the natural ferocity of The Contest as players fight alongside, and maybe even against, some animalistic Champions. Those who complete objective can receive milestone prizes and the chance to unlock a 7-Star mutant Toad. The hunt ends April 8.

Then there's also the Tooth and Claw Bundle Giveaway which runs from January 14 to February 9.

Marvel Contest of Champions invites players to step into The Battlerealm and experience epic 1v1 combat. It features various Super Heroes and Villains from across the Marvel Universe. The game was first released on mobile platforms through iOS and Android. Then in June 2025, Marvel Contest of Champions was made available for PC and fully optimized for mouse, keyboard, and controller on the big screen.

Players get to take on the role of a Summoner chosen by The Collector. They assemble a powerful team from a roster of more than 300 Champions. Players can engage in fast-paced battles against enemies and players from around the world. They'll have to master intuitive combat mechanics and release special attacks as they fight across cinematic storylines, competitive arenas, and time-limited events.
