Capcom is adding another feather to its hat with a new achievement through Monster Hunter Rise. That's because the Sunbreak expansion obtained the Grand Award during the Japan Game Awards: 2023. This was officially announced during the Tokyo Game Show 2023, held from September 21 to September 24.
Sunbreak is a massive premium expansion released in June 2022. It has earned a lot of acclaims due to the content and features that include new locales, new monsters, and even new hunting actions.
A New Threat
In this new expansion, players get to set sail and journey across the sea to learn more about the cause of the threat the kingdom is facing. As they arrived in the Elgado Outpost, they discover that the threats are coming from the Three Lords known as Malzeno, Lunagaron and Garangolm. However, it's not just new enemies that players face as they also face old enemies in the form on monsters in the series not featured in the main game.
In addition, with a new base of operations, players can look forward to interacting with different locals, each having their very own charming personality. These characters sometimes need the help of the players and in some cases aren't afraid to lend a helping hand of their own.

Monster Hunter Rise was launched in January 2022 and part of the Monster Hunter franchise. In the game, players take on the role of a hunter and make use of different weapons to bring down monsters. In addition to new maps, there’s also a new storyline to enjoy. In addition to the new features, the PC version also comes with various visual and performance enhancing optimizations.
Other Awards
Sunbreak wasn't the only winner for Capcom during the Japan Game Awards: 2023. Resident Evil 4 was awarded an Award for Excellence in the Games of the Year Division. This title is a remake of the original game released back in 2005. Then there's Dragon’s Dogma 2 which won an award in the Future Division. This is a category where players get to vote and choose the upcoming titles they most look forward to.
