The Third Edict arrives in Path of Exile 2 on August 28. This is the next major content update to be released for the game.

The Third Edict content update introduces Act 4. This serves as the next chapter in the Path of Exile 2 storyline and continues on from Act 3. In this one, Doryani has agreed to help find an ancient weapon that can be used against corruption which is the instrument of the Third Edict.

It's time to hire a ship and set sail for Kingsmach. Players get to discover the Ngamakanui archipelago, which is home to the Karui tribes. There are a total of eight islands to explore from the pristine beaches of Whakapanu Island and all the way to the volcanic shores of the Isle of Kin. Each island features its own dangers and bosses.

Act Four is completely non-linear and players can visit the islands in any order they choose.

Interludes

The Third Edict also marks the removal of Cruel Difficulty. There's going to be three new temporary interludes to be added along with a set of side stories that take players to level 65, where the Endgame begins.

Endgame Changes

Speaking of Endgame, there's also changes coming to that. Currently when it comes to accessing the most Pinnacle Content, players need the same key at the easiest and most difficult version of the content. This has resulted in what can be described as a negative feeling especially at lower difficulties. That's because rather than wanting to run the content, players are often better off just selling it to someone who can run it at maximum difficulty.

To address this, each content, excluding The Arbiter of Ash, is now going to Splinters, which won't form into singular Items. As such, instead of using the singular and combined item in the Realmgate, players can now just bring their Splinters. Upon inserting the splinters into the Realmgate, an interface appears and allows them to pick their difficulty, each one having a different entry cost.

As a result of this change, the corresponding Atlas Passive Trees should no longer affect the difficulty of the content. In addition, this has been changed to purely affect the content in the Maps on the Atlas.

These are just some of what players can expect in The Third Edict. We’ll be talking a lot about the other features and changes in the coming days. Learn more about it here.
