Developer Blue Ramen Studios announced that an updated demo for MAFATE is now available on Steam. The game offers a cozy adventure that's inspired by an island that's just off the coast of Madagascar. It puts players in the role of a legendary mail carrier.
The updated demo gives players the chance to experience the relaxed approach of the game when it comes to exploration and discovery. For those wondering, the Cirque de Mafate is a real volcanic caldera on Réunion Island. There are and can only be reached either on foot or helicopter. Meanwhile in MAFATE, players can explore trails, villages, forests, waterfalls, and towering cliffs inspired by the region while experiencing its Creole culture.
At the heart of the journey is Luna, a young Creole girl who has mysteriously transformed into a magical camera. Together with the mail carrier, she helps players discover the valley from new perspectives by capturing photographs. They can even possess native animals to reach hidden paths, uncover secrets, and solve environmental puzzles.
Moments that Matter
MAFATE has players observe nature as life unfolds around them. They'll need to wait for the perfect instant as they discover unique moments and compose memorable photographs. They do this through an innovative composition system that rewards creativity, curiosity, and observation. Each photo becomes a memory of their journey through Mafate.
Players also need to make sure that their camera is ready for the cutest inhabitants of the region called Bibiis. Bibiis are hidden throughout the adventure, and it is up to players to find them, take their pictures, and collect them all.
