Graduating From the Academy
The game starts with a test. Your master sends you through a maze that requires agility, speed, and quick thinking. The basic principle: move fast and stop as little as you can. You are being chased by a disintegrating field which makes you start over if it touches you.
Slalom around spears and boulders, dash across springing pungee sticks, fiery infernos, grasping pincers, sliding rotary blades, and dodge fiery missiles, rolling boulders, and aggressive fire elementals.
Strategies: Avoid wide open spaces and cling to the walls. Many traps are set where no hindrance is visible. Keep your priorities straight — you have barely enough time to make it.
The Home City of Zaratan
When you arrive at the home island, you will start in your family compound. Talk to your father about the wedding and the family genie. You are to marry Kara, the Caliph's daughter. Explore the compound and talk to family members.
Head into the city of Zaratan. Explore the shops and talk to people. You'll learn about the tensions between your family and the Wassab family. Visit the Qadi to learn about local laws. When ready, go to the Wassab compound and sign the pact of non-aggression.
The Monster-Infested Oasis
After a magical storm hits a Wassab ship (your family genie is blamed), the Qadi sends you to the oasis to search the western shore for survivors. Fight through scorpions, snakes, and other desert creatures. After rescuing the survivors, return to Zaratan to report.
Deadman's Reef
Sail to Deadman's Reef to investigate further. Navigate carefully through the reef, fighting sea creatures along the way. Explore thoroughly for clues about the genie attack.
The Mage's Tower
Inside you'll find a mermaid who will assist you under certain conditions. After an oath, she asks for a gilded dove. Sail to the Capital City and buy it from the Supernatural Emporium. Return the dove; her husband gives you a scroll to speak before your true enemy.
The Capital City
Visit your parents in the jail of the Palace. Key shops:
Ha-Kim's Heating: Hottest Coals in the World (needed later).
Reptilian Desires: Wisest Snake in the World (needed later).
Supernatural Emporium: Gilded Dove and magical items.
Ingrid's Shop of Wonders: Idrid's Veil (needed later).
Closed Inn: Patrons know about the Bottle of Eternal Emptiness.
Warning: Stay away from the Barracks and Mess Hall.
The Caliph's Castle (First Visit)
Navigate the halls to the throne room. Visit your parents in the castle jail. Your mother will give you a present. Your father will thank you and give you a present. You may now leave and return after accomplishing several quests.
The Island of Shibaz
Head for Shibaz and make your way through the abandoned buildings collecting treasures and scrolls.
Warning: In one room with two chests and two pieces of furniture — DO NOT ENTER! They come to life and destroy you.
In a path lined with spears, you'll find invisible hags. Use shards or sling on these — they only reappear when they attack.
The Library Maze
On Shibaz, find the entrance to the Library Maze. Navigate carefully through multiple paths and dead ends, fighting monsters along the way.
The Library
The Library Hermit has valuable knowledge about the Genie Lords and how to break the curse. Search the shelves for important scrolls and books.
The Genie Lord's Isle and the Isle of Senat
Deal with an Efreet who sends you on three fetch quests:
1. Hottest Coals from Ha-Kim's Heating in the Capital.
2. Idrid's Veil from Ingrid's Shop of Wonders.
3. Bottle of Eternal Emptiness from the Island of Senat.
The Island of Senat is a fiery volcanic rock plagued by fire elementals. DO NOT FIGHT! Just dodge the elementals and grab the bottle from the center. Return the bottle to the Efreet and convince him to open it — he gets sucked in!
The Capital City and the Caliph's Palace (Second Visit)
New areas are now accessible. Visit your mother and father for presents. Proceed to explore the castle's dungeons.
The Castle's Old Dungeon
There are 6 cells and a hallway with pressure plates. Cover each plate with a boulder, then scrape off the nearest lichen-covered wall to reveal a symbol. The symbols form a combination that opens the locked door.
Note: One cell contains green-acid puddles — close that cell door when done.
The Castle's New Dungeon (Second Visit)
Tougher enemies and more complex puzzles. Fight through and search for keys and items to progress deeper into the castle.
The Castle and the Private Chambers (Third Visit)
Access the Private Chambers. Find important documents and clues about the Nameless Ones and their plans.
The Island of Al'Katraz
Two warring factions here. Once the leaders are dealt with, find a key on each to a shrine. Enter the two shrines and meditate to receive the password words: HAMA and BAZAN.
Proceed to the Well and speak the password words while standing in front of it.
The Prison of Al'Katraz
Kill and destroy everybody and everything in your path. Search each cell and room for items, keys, and clues.
Aballat Isle
More challenges and enemies. Search for items and scrolls for the final confrontation. Find the passage to the Nameless Ones.
Al-Naqqil, Home of the Nameless Ones
Use your scrolls at the appropriate moments against powerful magical enemies. Navigate dark corridors and magical traps.
The Outer-Planes
The final confrontation. Use everything you've gathered throughout your journey. Defeat the ultimate enemy to free your family from the curse, rescue Kara, and restore peace. Congratulations!
