Walkthrough forDarkened Skye

1. Lynlora

Note: Don't worry about the tuning fork or the tree that you encounter in this level — they come into play later in the game. There is no magic in this level so don't be alarmed. Use the True Sight spell to see the sacred circle on the left next to the tree facing the village gate.

When you materialize you will see Drakk in front of you. Get the rune mine behind you first, then go talk to Drakk. Fight the guys in front of you, turn right, go one intersection and get the rumble stone. Turn around the way you came, stay to the left and you'll see a tree in the road — examine it and you'll find a red breasted northern butt smiler. After that you'll see the portal that Drakk came through.

Keep heading in the same direction and you'll see 3 guys, one with a key over his head. Kill them and get Grunk's key. Take the next left and go into the village. Keep in mind the house on your left as you enter the village — Mala's house — you can get some help from her later.

In the village talk to people and you'll find there is a sacred circle somewhere; after talking to some people you'll get a spell (probably from Gia in the center of the village). Talk to everyone to get the spells you need. Open the locked door with Grunk's key and fight your way through to get the yellow skittle.

When you get the skittle you'll get a cut scene. Now go back and the village gate will be open. As you leave the village, look to the left near the tree facing the village gate — use True Sight to reveal the sacred circle. Step on it to get the cut scene, then follow the trail up the hill for another cut scene and you're off to Tikniki Forest!

2. Ogmire Archipelago

Head to the beach and kill the creatures. You'll see a tikniki (the little creatures). Talk to him and he'll want you to find something. Go along the beach killing crabs and collecting items. You'll find a seashell and various supplies.

Make your way across the islands using the bridges and paths. Kill the pirate ogmires along the way. On one of the islands you'll find a skittle. There are several tiknikis to talk to who will give you hints and spells.

Find the cannon and use it to blast open blocked paths. Make your way to the far island where you'll encounter the boss. Defeat him and collect the reward. Follow the path to exit the level.

3. Tikniki Forest

Turn around and run to the end and get the fish. Go back and talk to Nenu. Turn left and go to the edge of the water and kill the flying bugs (from a distance is easier). You'll see a lily pad and an island with grass on it and 4 or 5 lily pads after that.

Tip: This takes a little practice and can be frustrating — just keep trying and use your quick save a lot.

Jump across to the other side and kill the 2 birds. You'll see a tikniki on the right and the entrance to the forest. Go in the right entrance and stay to your right, kill everything along the way and you'll come out the other end. Jump on the turtle and jump off on the bridge (jump on the lily pad and then to the bridge).

Turn right and follow the bridge to the other bridge. Go to the end and jump on the turtle — it takes it a little while to make a full circuit so be patient. Once you're close enough, jump to the platform.

Go to the island that has a shell floating on it. Get the shell, wait for the turtle, and jump back on. Make your way to the next island. You'll find a green rain with a musical bug next to the water.

Go back to the entrance of the forest and face the forest. Take the far left entrance and you'll find the last bug in that green rain (this section of the forest is by itself and will take you back to the entrance). Face the forest again, go in the middle entrance and take your 2nd right. You'll find your last green rain by a rock.

Use True Sight and go in. Use the shell with the bugs on the Heart of the Forest and you'll get your cut scene. Pick up the 2 skittles and you'll get another cut scene from the bad guy. All the monsters re-spawn, so go back to the entrance of the forest killing the monsters along the way.

Over by the tikniki opposite of the entrance of the forest you'll see a fish jumping around. Just keep running back and forth and you'll catch the fish. Give them to Nenu to build the raft and you're on your way.

4. Ogmire City

You will now have Impede and Shadow Vision in your magic inventory.

As you look through the gate you'll see a switch on the side of the staircase. Run straight past that and kill the little guys with the distance spell Prismatic Pulse. There are 4 switches you need to pull to open the gate on the stairs:

1. Staircase
2. Behind it on the left
3. From that switch turn right and left
4. At the entrance facing the gate to the left when you're on the inside

Go through the gate at the top of the stairs, hang a left and hit the switch. Turn around and go up the stairs, turn right and leap across to the top of the entrance (make sure you're at full health — the leap takes some). Turn around and shoot the switch above the gate. Walk up and enter the arena area.

In the arena, go left to the fenced area. You'll see a tikniki in a cage in the back. Hit the switch in front of the cage, then quickly jump up on the ramp to the left of the cage. You need to time this right — it opens a gate. Make your way up and across to a lever, then to another that opens the cage. Talk to Barkh, the tikniki, and he'll join you.

Exit the arena area and head up the winding path. Keep an eye out for switches hidden in alcoves. You'll encounter stronger ogmires as you go higher. At the top you'll face the Ogmire Boss. Defeat him and collect the skittles and proceed to the exit.

5. Lynlora — 2nd Visit

When you arrive you'll have a cut scene. Talk to the villagers for updated information. You can now access new areas of Lynlora that were previously blocked.

Find Gia and talk to her about the next destination. She'll give you new spells and information about the Sky Camp. Make sure to explore the new areas for supplies and skittles before heading out.

Follow the new path that has opened up to exit the village and head toward the Sky Camp.

6. The Sky Camp

Note: There is no fighting in this level but it can get very confusing. A lot of the carpets and flying things will fall on you in a few seconds so timing is important. Quick saving is very important in this level. On some of the carpets and flying ships/platforms, if you miss just wait and it will take you back around to where you need to be.

Jump on the green chair and down the pillows onto the carpet. As soon as the other carpets appear, start jumping to the platform with the balloon (you have about 3 to 5 seconds before the carpets start falling). As soon as you get on, turn to your right and it will take you to a red carpet. Jump on it, face right and jump on the flying ship. Face the way you landed and it will take you to another red carpet, then to another balloon platform.

Jump to the floating house with the guy inside and talk to him. He'll tell you to find the wind crystals. Jump on the balloon and it takes you to the Gypsy camp. Talk to the gypsies and get your information. Find the merchant and stock up on supplies.

You need to find and activate 3 wind crystals scattered across the floating platforms. Navigate the carpets and balloons carefully — timing your jumps is crucial. Each crystal is on a separate floating platform. After activating all three, return to the man in the floating house.

He will open the way forward. Jump onto the final set of platforms and make your way to the exit portal to complete the level.

7. Lynlora with Stone

You return to Lynlora with the Awaken Stone spell now available. Talk to the villagers for updated information. There are several stone statues around the village that you can now awaken using the spell.

Find and awaken the stone statues to receive new information and items. Some of the awakened statues will give you important quest items needed for the next areas. Make sure to talk to Gia again for the latest updates.

Explore the areas that were previously inaccessible. Collect any skittles and potions you find. When you've done everything, head to the exit to proceed to Zen'jai Hills.

8. Zen'jai Hills — The Land of the Five Birds

You should have these additional spells: Madness, Awaken Stone, Pyro Pulse, and Spell Shield. You should also have 4 orange skittles, 2 red skittles, 1 green skittle, and 1 yellow skittle.

Go talk to the guy in front of you — he'll give you the bird cage. Follow the trail, kill the 2 flying monsters, jump across the breaks in the trail and stay to your right. Pick up the red and blue potions, turn around and take your 1st right. Follow the trail killing along the way.

Take the 1st right, go in the house and get your potion. Go out and behind to the right of the house. Take either trail — it goes to the same place. Get your potions, go across the bridge and straight. You'll see bushes you cannot pass yet — don't worry. Take the left path instead.

Kill the guys in front of the big house and go inside. Get the jar, potion, and the yellow skittle. You can now use the Pyro Pulse spell. Go back to the bushes, load the pyro spell, burn them, and pick up the red skittle.

Continue exploring the hills looking for the 5 birds. Each bird requires you to solve a small puzzle or defeat enemies to capture it in your cage. The birds are: orange and purple birds (2 of 5 can be found in the Zen'jai area). Use the Pyro Pulse to burn through blocked paths and find hidden areas.

Once you've explored everything and found the available birds, head to the exit to proceed.

9. Ice Heart

You need to find the stone bird (3 of 5), a key needed to open the gate, and a fuse needed to light the cannon.

This is a cold, icy level. Watch your footing on the slippery surfaces. Fight through the ice creatures and make your way through the frozen corridors. Find the key first — it's needed to open the gate blocking progress.

Locate the cannon and the fuse. Use the fuse to light the cannon and blast through the ice wall. Behind it you'll find the stone bird. Capture it and continue to the exit.

10. Fire Heart

This level is the opposite of Ice Heart — everything is fiery and hot. There are no special items to find here, just fight your way through the fire creatures and navigate the lava-filled passages.

Be careful of the lava pits — falling in means instant death. Use your spells strategically against the fire-based enemies. Make your way through to the end of the level.

11. Black Heart

Nothing special to find here either. Fight through the dark creatures and navigate the shadowy passages. This level is relatively straightforward compared to some of the earlier ones. Proceed to the exit when you've cleared the area.

12. Warlord's Palace

The spells Veil and Psychic Blast are added. This level can be very confusing.

You will be in the entrance and when you step forward a boss will come out. When he hits the ground you need to jump or you will take damage. The way to beat him is to run up close and beat him to death with your staff.

When you've defeated him go through the door and turn right. Go through the next door — you will see some little doors, some with a big guillotine in them and some without. The door straight across from you is a way out — don't go there as there is no need to. The 3rd door on your left is where you will find the chest piece of the armor you are looking for. The 1st door on your left is the way you want to go.

Go through that door. When you're through, go directly to the other side of the hole and turn around. Look down and hit the switch with a distance spell. This opens a gate below. Drop down and explore to find more armor pieces.

There are 5 pieces of armor to procure for assembly. You also need to find the clock (used to call the last bird) and the green and yellow birds. Search each room thoroughly — the armor pieces are scattered throughout the palace.

Once you have all 5 armor pieces and the birds, assemble the armor and proceed to the exit.

13. Lynlora — 3rd Visit

Items to find: Fruit cake (used to trade with the Zogel), Dish (used to trade), and Tuning Fork (turns into a key of sorts).

Return to the village and talk to the inhabitants for updated information. The tuning fork from earlier in the game now becomes useful. Find the Zogel and trade the fruit cake and dish for items you need.

Use the tuning fork on the appropriate location to unlock the way forward. Collect any remaining skittles and supplies before heading to Stone Heath.

14. Stone Heath

Items to find: Box (found with crow bar), 3 Keys with symbols on them for a puzzle, Crow bar (used to pry with), Chain (used for climbing or rappelling), and Mirror (needed to reflect light).

This is a puzzle-heavy level. Find the crow bar first, then use it to pry open the box. The 3 keys each have symbols that correspond to locks in the environment — match them correctly to open the way forward.

Use the chain to climb down into lower areas. The mirror is needed to reflect light beams to activate mechanisms. Position yourself carefully to redirect the light to the correct targets.

Work through the puzzles systematically and proceed to the Lower Goblin's Lair.

15. Lower Goblin's Lair

Items to find: Energy crystals (used to charge the power cell — referred to as "zappy things"), 3 Power cells (needed to activate the elevator), and Security codes (needed to access the elevators).

This is a more technical level. You need to find energy crystals and use them to charge the power cells. There are 3 power cells total, and each needs to be charged and placed in the correct location.

Find the security codes to access the elevators. The codes are hidden throughout the level. Once you have all 3 power cells charged and the security codes, activate the elevators to proceed upward.

16. Upper Goblin's Lair

Continue through the goblin's domain. This level builds on the mechanics from the lower lair. More enemies and puzzles await. Fight through the goblins and navigate the upper corridors.

Find additional power cells and security codes if needed. Work your way to the top of the lair and defeat the goblin boss to exit and proceed to the Bone Lands.

17. The Bone Lands

The new spell in this level is Ring of Rime. The skittles are as follows: 4 red, 4 green, 3 yellow, 2 purple, and 1 orange.

Note: The moving bones are good for 10% venom when you defeat them. To activate them you use the Awaken Dead ability on the moving bones. This level can get a little confusing. A few things to remember: the round towers with 6 horns sticking out are the ones with Gwenella's belongings in them — there are only 3. The scorpions will run from you when you hit them, so if you give chase and slide down the hills it is hard to get back. The easiest way is to get the belongings one by one and chase the scorpions later.

When you come out, go to the flashing rock with the scorpion on it and read it. Go ahead and a cut scene will take over — you will get the venom vial. Look straight ahead and you'll see the 1st tower. Go in and you will see the shoes and talk to a spirit.

Continue exploring to find the other 2 towers with Gwenella's belongings. Collect all 3 items and defeat the scorpions for their venom. Once you have everything, proceed to the exit.

18. Lynlora — 4th Visit

Return to Lynlora once more. Talk to the villagers and Gia for the latest information. You'll receive new spells and directions for the next area.

Use any new abilities to access previously unreachable areas of the village. Collect remaining items and prepare for the journey to Twell Country.

19. Twell Country

Explore this new area and talk to the inhabitants. Fight through the enemies and search for skittles and items. Navigate the countryside paths, defeating enemies as you go.

There are several puzzles to solve in this area involving the environment. Use your spells creatively to overcome obstacles. Find the way through to the Gargoyle Cemetery.

20. Gargoyle Cemetery

This is a creepy level filled with gargoyles and undead creatures. Use your Awaken Stone spell on the gargoyle statues — some are friendly and give information, while others attack.

Navigate through the cemetery, fighting off the undead. Find the key items needed to unlock the path to the Cathedral Library. Be careful of ambushes among the tombstones.

21. Cathedral Library

Explore the library and search for important books and scrolls. The library contains clues about Necroth and how to defeat him. Fight through the library guardians.

Solve the book-based puzzles to unlock sealed areas. Collect any skittles and spells available. When you've gathered everything, proceed to the Cathedral.

22. Cathedral

This is one room. Kill the bad guys and run around to get the 10 black vortices. Then go to the door with Necroth's symbol. You will fight the Knight again, then exit through the door.

23. Bell Tower

It is impossible to get lost in this level. Kill the guys in your way and work your way to the top. Pick up the vortices on the way — there are 10 of these again. There is also a red skittle in this level on the stairs; it's real easy to spot.

Once you make it to the top you'll see Necroth's symbol again — this is your exit when you have all the black vortices. You will fight a red fire knight boss. Talk to the knight again, then go to the flashing statue and use Awaken Stone. You will also notice Wind Glide in your spells.

24. Necroth's Realm

The new spells are Wind Glide, Create Wizard, and Heart of the Rainbow. The skittles are as follows: 6 green, 5 red, 5 yellow, 4 purple, 2 orange.

The hardest part of this section is the little guys that use a fireball — it knocks you off the rocks you're standing on. Use Wind Glide to navigate between floating platforms. The timing on the glides is crucial — save often.

Work your way through the realm, collecting vortices and defeating Necroth's minions. Use Create Wizard to summon help during tough fights. Navigate the floating islands and dark passages until you reach the entrance to Necroth's Lair.

25. Necroth's Lair

This is the final level. Make your way through Necroth's defenses, fighting powerful enemies along the way. Use all the spells at your disposal — especially Heart of the Rainbow, which is the most powerful pulse spell.

When you reach Necroth, this is the final boss fight. Use your strongest spells and keep moving to avoid his attacks. The Heart of the Rainbow spell is particularly effective against him.

Defeat Necroth to complete the game and restore light to the world of Darkened Skye. Congratulations!
