The full release of Withering Rooms is here. This 2.5 horror RPG is available for the PC through Steam along with consoles PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S. The game offers players a procedurally generated Victorian mansion that changes each night.
In the game, you get to explore Mostyn House and discover secret passageways and dusty attics that's filled with treasure. Then there's the ever-changing Byzantine Labyrinth that lies under the Mostyn House. As learn more about the house, you’ll get to encounter a huge case of monsters and bosses that includes invisible ghosts, axe wielding madmen, devious witches, and the overgrown undead, to name a few.
Of course, you'll have a fighting chance since along the way you get to gather weapons, distractions, and magical artifacts. You also get to collect keys and crafting materials. Did we mention that you can case a wide range of spells? That's right! It's possible to create hex traps on closet doors, enchant suits of armor, or create a decoy mimic of yourself, to name a few.
Then there are the cast of strange friends, merchants, liars, and witches that you get to meet. Be careful though since each one has their own agenda.
Full Release Features
A lot of players have probably tried out the game during early access. What's new with the full release? For starters you can look forward to a new enemy archetype with the two new bestiary entries added and these are the Rival Witches. They wear and use similar equipment to Nightingale and even eat Scones when low on health. They can even place Warding Candles when cursed. When you defeat them you get a new resource which is the First Angel Kindling.
By the way, once you defeat your first Rival Witch, you'll get access to the Church of the First Angel. There you can perform rituals to upgrade equipment past +3 all the way to +5. The church is one of two new areas added to the game. The second is the Bloody Gatehouse, which is no longer boarded up.
Other new features are the new outfits and being able to enchant the skeletons in the Byzantine Labyrinth to fight for you.
What do you think? Can you survive the horror in the Withering Rooms?
