It hasn't been long since FlyKnight was released on Steam. Since the launch, this indie game has seen a considerable amount of success that include getting Overwhelmingly Positive reviews.
Because of this, a lot of players are now asking what's being planned for the game like DLC, playable modes, or even extra content, to name a few. In a post, developer Wabbaboy shared that players found the game to be short and wanted more of it. While there's no plans so far on that end, the studio did reveal that they'll be making a sequel. Now before you get too excited, they have started it yet. That's because the priority for now is to release a patch for the game considering that it was released "half cooked and it deserves better."
Immediate Work
For now, the studio is working on various features for the game. One of these is NG+. For those not familiar, NG+ is an unlockable video game mode that's usually available in some video games where players get to restart the game's story with all or some of the items or experience gained in the first playthrough. For FlyKnight, the studio assured everyone that it won't just be a run with stronger enemies. There's going to be a different level design and even the option to try it out with even being able to complete the base game.
They're also working on the Randomiser mode which have settings for enemies, items and certain difficulty levels.
The Sequel
Going back to the sequel, it's going to be a "longer and much more complex game." There's going to be ways to level up and upgrade the Fly along with interconnected metroidvania-like level design. These are just some of what's being looked into for the possible sequel.
FlyKnight was released on Steam this January 31. The game takes place in a realm where the witch Lunamoth has released a curse which prevents its denizens from growing wings. The story follows a squire of the order of the Flyknights, a team assembled to vanquish the witch and lift her curse. Having been separated after an ambush, the squire arrives at the village of the swamp folk and pledges to see the mission through, either alone or by teaming up with other fighters summoned to help along the way.
