A Star System Opens Up in Warframe this December

Get ready to explore Fornax and its moon, Perita.

A new era is set to begin in Warframe as developer Digital Extremes prepares to invite players to a place that's beyond The Origin System. The new Tau Star System opens up this December. It's available on all platforms.

The new Tau Star System features a new single-player cinematic narrative chapter. It also unlocks new variants of cooperative gameplay modes that include a revamped Survival mission on the Fornax moon, Perita, where players can squad up with friends online. A new Star System means a new Star Chart and this newest one is filled with new forces, friends, and foes, to name a few.

When The Old Pease update was released back December 2025, it introduced everyone to what Tau once was. With the upcoming update, players get to learn more about what has happened after eons of conflict. They also get a peek at present-day Perita and the hostile forces overseeing this decayed wasteland. Perita in particular is being added to the game along with the mob-run ring city of Fornax. These two serve as two distinct locations. Players get to discover new stories and challenges as Tau evolves with each new update.

In a statement, Digital Extremes Community Director Megan Everett revealed that this merely serves as an initial look into what's coming to the game with Tau. Players need not worry though since there's a lot for players to discover. She added that players can look forward to the Devstream happening on November 27 to learn more about what is being released for the game. She assured everyone that while they're focusing on Tau, the Origin System won't be left behind.

Warframe was launched in 2013 and since then has become a multi-generational game having more than 80 million registered players across various platforms. In the game, players get to be part of an ancient class of warriors known as the Tenno as they fight their way across an ever-expanding universe of over 18 planets and more than 55 Warframes, with four open worlds to discover.

Warframe encourages creativity with an array of customizable options for weaponry, vehicles, companions, and more. Players can fashion their unique loadout for a more personalized gaming experience. With countless customization options, designing the perfect look for their Warframe presents a rewarding challenge for players. Get the Warframe for the PC via Steam.
