A new update has been released for Barony. Part 1 of the Instruments of Destruction introduces a lot of new content to the game. One of these is the addition of the Cauldron as a new Utility Station. These are big iron bowls that players can use and dump stuff into when they want to heat it up.
Unbreakable Alchemy
In Barony, Cauldrons have two modes. The first one is known as Unbreakable Alchemy. It lets adventurers to do some brewing especially when they don't have the portable alembic. Professional alchemists also benefit from the cauldron. This is because they can brew more caustic mixtures without endangering the durability of their precious alembics.
Cooking and Rations
The second mode is all about cooking. To survive the dungeons, it's important to learn how to cook. The thing is, cooking is as simple as taking two edible ingredients and then mashing them up together to create an unholy puck of nutrition called a ration. Now as long as it's not cursed, all food actually cooks into the same quality of rations which stack together. The Cauldron also allows players to cook moldy bits are render them harmless.
Using Rations
Speaking of rations, once players have a stack of them, they can be further combined with potions to create a flavored ration. Each potion confers one of six possible flavorings. This produces fewer rations to eat though each flavor provides its own buff. When cooking, rations can be combined with water to create a repulsive blob that has no nutritional value. However, this can be thrown at enemies to blind and upset them.
Players can also create gross grease balls by combing a ration with a towel in a cooking vessel. Once creatures are hit by this balls, it makes them greasy and then drop their weapon next time they try to attack. The grease balls also leave a trail of slippery grease. Enemies who stand on top of the grease are knocked back by melee attacks.
The new update also introduces three new primary of schools of magic and more details of the update is available here.
