BioWare released a post where they shared more about their upcoming title Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This time it's all about the progression that everyone can experience in the game. There's three of them and pretty much help players customize Rook.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard has players take on the role of Rook a fully customizable protagonist who's been tasked to rise up and unite the crew. It's launching worldwide on October 31 and available on different platforms.
Skill Tree Progression
After getting enough experience points, Rook levels up and is awarded a Skill Point which can be placed in the Skill Tree. The Constellation Skill Tree is where all the possible areas of growth are laid out and the types of skills are denoted by the shape. These are:
- Large circle: Class
- Diamond: Ability
- Medium circle: Major Passive or Ability Upgrade
- Small hexagon: Trait
- Small circle: Minor Passive or Stat Boost
There are also Node selections which have been designed to harmonize into cohesive builds and ensure that Rook’s strength is always growing as players refine their playstyle. For those who want to try out another path, not to worry since the game allows for Skill Points to be refunded at any time with no resource cost.
Item Progression
Like with most RPGs, there's a wide range of equipment that players can find or buy in the game. These include the likes of weapons, armor, and even accessories. Each item comes with its own stats and properties.
Equipment can be upgraded and enchanted. This results in unlocking additional effects not just for Rook but also the Companions. It goes without saying that upgraded equipment receive increased stats. These are all possible over at the Caretaker’s Workshop in the Lighthouse. Now while there's a list of basic enchantments that players start with, more enchantments become available as the rank of the Caretaker’s Workshop is upgraded.
Companion's Progression
Members of the Veilguard each have their own Levels and for each level gained obtains 2 Skill Points. Each companion has quests that deepen Rook’s bond with them, and of course, it's one of the main ways for them to gain experience. Companions also can gain experience through unique conversations and decisions with them.
Rook can take two Companions on missions and each Companion comes with their own set of gear to manage. The Companion's gear can be upgraded and enchanted at the Caretaker’s Workshop.
