Catacombs are Opening in New World: Aeternum with Upcoming Season

The new season of New World: Aeternum is releasing on October 13. It's available free and has players explore a realm that's been hidden from Aeternum. The upcoming season is set to introduce a new game mode known as Catacombs.

Catacombs has up to three players explore the depths of a procedurally generated dungeon. They'll have to race in order to successfully exit and cleanse their treasures before time runs out. Along the way they have fight against a wide range of enemies and bosses and in return obtain unique mode-specific powerups as well as collect cursed resources and currency.

The difficulty of Catacombs is moderate at the beginning of a session. The challenge, and corresponding reward, increases significantly each time a boss is defeated. To counter this, players have to obtain in-mode power-ups that improve their stats and abilities. With each boss defeated, players need to decide between pushing further into the Catacombs for even greater rewards or safely making their exit before time runs out. Failure to make a safe exit results in loss of the vast majority of the treasures collected. To avoid this, only one player needs to safely exit.

New Raid

There's also a new raid which is Isle of Night. This 10-person endgame raid is set in a once magnificent kingdom whose inhabitants have now fallen Lost. It is the same in length and format to Hive of Gorgons. The raid features three new bosses along with multiple new enemy types. There are also light puzzles and even set piece encounters. This raid is some of the hardest content in Season 10 and demands players gear-up and coordinate to succeed.
